Semiotics of the Soul
The concept of soul is often considered in religious terms, as something within each individual that exists long after the body has passed away. In brief, soul means the “essence” of things. Some belief systems, like “animism,” maintain that all things have a soul.
This exhibition includes visual images of what “the soul” means to artists as they try to interpret its meaning in visual terms. These visualizations include personal meanings that reflect “the essence” of lived experience.
In the end, we become a “collective soul” that binds us together regardless of who we are, our country of origin, or religion. It is a spiritual connection that affirms ONE HUMANITY.
Thereby, we become one universal soul connected to each other beyond our physical bodies. Thus, this exhibition sheds human light on our common humanity.
